What is a Blockhead?
A blockhead is a mutt, a mix of breeds that gives them a square dome. They are likely to be mixed with, but not limited to: pits, bullies, staffies, cane corsos, mastiffs, dogo argentinos, pugs, bulldogs, Rottweilers boxers, dalmatians, rhodesian ridgebacks, etc. Just like a doodle is usually a poodle mix, it’s still just a mutt. Blockheads don’t just come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, but personalities as well. Some are operating on a single brain cell, while others are brilliant. Some are energetic, lazy and sometimes they are inbetween. They may have jobs, from sports like dock jumping and disc dogs, or service dogs and therapy dogs. They are dogs, and all that means, from best friends, soul mates and side kicks, Blockheads are the goodest boys and girls who need love like any other pup!
Why do Blockheads need saving?
Due to things like overbreeding, inadequate training or exercise and of course, breed discrimination. Breed discrimination laws make it illegal to have a blockhead in some countries, counties and cities. Housing discrimination for bully breeds exists in most rentals, military bases, and even HOAs. There’s discrimination with the media, police force and insurance companies. Blockheads tend to make up a majority of the population in shelters, rescues or as strays. For many dogs, once they end up in a shelter, they end up dying there. They are the hardest dogs to adopt out, and if they aren’t euthanized for space, it’s very common for them to be behaviorally euthanized after spending months or years in a shelter setting.

How can I help?
Follow the three R’s, Reduce, Rescue, Rebrand! We can reduce the amount by spaying & neutering to avoid accidental litters, not breeding them intentionally or purchasing them from backyard breeders (this will create a supply/demand). There are so many ways to rescue; adopting, fostering, volunteering, donating, educating and advocating. You don’t need to own a blockhead (or be owned by one) to be their friend, we understand not everyone can or wants to and thats okay! By educating ourselves and others, we can work together to rebrand them into the Blockheads we know and love.

At the moment, engaging with us on social media and sharing any content you enjoy would be incredibly helpful and appreciated! We also have some merchandise available! We receive about one dollar per shirt sold, and any money raised will go towards start-up costs. I really can’t thank you enough for your support!
